That or replace the harness, and you already know that drill. One thing I've done is to pull the connector apart and pinch the female pins a little bit with a pick or tiny screwdriver which puts a little more pressure against the male pins. That is the only filter there is, the one on the end of the fuel pump module and, IMO, it's undersized. ![]() It sounds odd, but I really suggest filtering the fuel before it goes into the tank. The filter can be replaced-and should be replaced-about every 50 hours or so. If replacing the pump, replace it with the newer style pump, 2012 and newer, which is serviceable. Once lube and coolant are lost, it lasts maybe 5 minutes. 100% of the time if that is the case, the filter turns black or dark gray or red if your dirt is red like ours is. Generally speaking, the filter gets dirty from debris in the fuel (dirt, etc) and then the pump itself starves for fuel, which also lubricates and cools the pump and it's drive motor. The fuel pumps themselves don't generally die IF the fuel is clean and free of debris. ![]() ![]() (1) fuel pumps, (2) harnesses, and (3) throttle bodies.
